May Highlights

Pentecost Sunday, May 23rd this year, is the day the church remembers and celebrates something pretty amazing - the gift of the Holy Spirit given not just to the leaders of Gods people, but, as the prophet Joel says, "In the last days it will be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams." Acts 2:17 (NRSV)

How do we celebrate such a thing? This year, the Worship Board, music ministry team and I have put together something special. We are going to hold the first of our Healing Worship Services on Pentecost Sunday. A normal, liturgical service will be held at both 8:30 and 10:45, but they will be a little shorter than usual (assuming a certain preacher can tighten his message up a little!), and after the benediction, the congregation will be invited to either stay and meditate/pray for a while, or come forward to one of the four prayer stations in front of the sanctuary for a brief time of private prayer and anointing with oil. I will be at one of the stations, and three laypeople will be at the other stations, offering to pray with you if you have special needs.

We'll share more about this as the time grows closer, but please plan on attending  - it promises to be a special, holy time - a celebration and experience of the Joel's prophecy. You will be blessed! We plan to do this every 5th Sunday and hope that it becomes a life-changing experience for you.
